Another Two Victims of Pokemon Go

A 15-year-old girl and 35-year-old man are the latest victims of Go Pokemon, the free location-based reality game that was released this month.

Yesterday (Wednesday), the 15-year-old girl from Carmiel went with her brother to catch Pokemon, and fell from her bicycle and was injured. She was hospitalized in the Galil hospital in Nahariya in the ICU for a skull fracture and brain hemorrhage. The doctors say she is in moderate and stable condition.

In another instance of a person searching for Pokemon, a 35-year-old man was injured today moderately in Rishon Lezion. When running after Pokemon, he collided with a glass door which shattered, and injured his leg. He was treated in Asaf Harofeh hospital.

A few days ago, a 17-year old youth collapsed unconscious in the sea during an attempt to catch Pokemon at the Ashdod beach. Fortunately, his brother noticed him and quickly dragged him out of the water.

Dr. Zev Sonis, the head of the pediatric ICU unit in Galil, said that the hospital is seeing a significant increase in the number of children injured from playing Pokemon Go.

“Unfortunately, many of the parents don’t know about the new game and the dangers of riding on electric and regular bicycles without protection. Pokemon has become a trend that absorbs youngsters so much that they don’t see dangers in places like roads, pits, and water reservoirs. We have to bring this into the public consciousness to stop the next tragedy,” he said.
