Can I cancel a standing bank order to a charity that may not be Bona Fide?

16.09.15

Question

Two weeks ago someone called me to ask if I could make challah in my home. They asked me to personally contribute to them. I felt uncomfortable and I agreed to make a monthly donation over the next two years by bank order. My father asked me to check out whom I contributed to and I saw there were no well known rabbis with recommendations behind them. Can I cancel the bank order and give the amount to a reliable and familiar place, or will heaven look at it as improper? Thank you very much.

Response

You can cancel the bank order without concern.
