Israel’s Population On 70th Independence Day

Israel’s population stands at approximately 8,842,000, of whom 74.5 % are Jewish, according to figures released by the Central Bureau of Statistics. The Jews living in Israel today are 45% of world Jewry.
Israel has the world's largest Jewish population of 6.589 million ahead of the United States which has approximately 5.700 million Jews.
There are now estimated to be 14.511 million Jewish people worldwide, 45% of them live in Israel.
At the time of the state’s establishment 70 years ago, the population stood at some 806,000 residents; today, that number has grown tremendously to approximately 8.842 million.
The CBS predicts the population will grow to approximately 15.2 million by 2048.
The Jewish population in Israel stands at approximately 6.589 million, while Arabs number some 1.849 million, 20.9% of the population. There are approximately 404,000 citizens, 4.6%, who are non-Arab Christians or members of other ethnic groups.
Over the past 12 months some 177,000 babies were born, 41,000 Israelis died and 28,000 immigrants arrived.
