Payment for Work on Shabbat

Torah says its forbidden to work and get paid on Shabbat. How come then Rabbis get paid on Shabbat. Other Rabbis say they prépare ahead of time but so do teachers lawyers etc. Please reply. Thank you

To the Questioner,

See Shulchan Aruch that if you are being paid an overall pay for work that is done during the week as well, it is not considered as receiving pay for the work done on Shabbas [even though the overall pay amount is higher than what one would generally recieve just for the amount of work done during the week. This is known as “Havla'ah”, which is permissible.
