Tikkun Leil Hoshana Rabba for Women

AA

Question

Shavua Tov and Chag Sameach!
I would like to know if women are also allowed/required to recite the Book of Deuteronomy on the night of Hoshana Rabba? Additionally, regarding the Psalms, should they be recited after midnight or until midnight, or is it permissible to do either?
Thank you very much and a good note!

Answer

Wishing you joyous holidays,

1. There are those who wrote that it is customary for women to recite the Tikkun on the night of Hoshana Rabba (Responsa Rav Pe'alim, Part 1, in the booklet Sod Yasharim, Section 9, and in his book Od Yosef Chai, Parashat Vayishlach), however, we have not heard of this custom in our places (Netei Gavriel, Sukkot, Chapter 16, Section 5, and in the note there in the name of the Rebbe of Chassidim, zt"l, who testified that he has never seen or heard of such a practice), but they are permitted to recite the Tikkun.

2. Those who are meticulous say Psalms specifically after midnight (Bikurei Yaakov, Section 669, Paragraph 4).

Sincerely,
Hillel Meirs
