Is it Permissible for a Groom to Visit the Cemetery?

AA

Question

Can a groom in his year of mourning visit the cemetery, and does it matter whether it is for his uncle or another person? Thank you.

Answer

Greetings,

A groom and bride are permitted to visit the cemetery within the first year of their marriage.

Sources: See Responsa Bezalach Chochma part 2 (section 44) regarding whether a groom and bride may visit the cemetery during the seven days of feasting. However, afterward there is no restriction.

Best regards,

Hillel Meirs
