Laws of the Amidah Prayer

Question

Hello esteemed Rabbi, I would like to know, in the Eighteen Blessings Prayer, one needs to take 3 steps... how exactly is this done according to the Eastern communities? Which foot do we start with and which do we finish with? I'm a bit confused. Thank you in advance.

Answer

Hello,

Before 'Hashem' opens my lips, one should take three steps forward to the place where you intend to pray, starting with the right foot.

If you are already in your place, you should take three steps back in order to then take three steps forward.

At the end of the prayer, before saying 'He who brings peace upon high', you should step back three steps while slightly bowing your head, starting with the left foot, and when you finish the steps, say "He who brings peace upon high" with your head bowed to the left, "may He bring peace upon us" with your head to the right, and "and upon all Israel" with your head straight.

Best regards,

Benjamin Shmueli
