Must One Immerse a Salt Shaker?

If the salt shaker is made of metal or glass, it requires immersion (also see the book on Immersion of Utensils, Chapter 11, Section 110 and Note 197). If it is made of plastic, immersion is not necessary (see Responsa Yabia Omer, Volume 4, Section 10, Article 8, and Responsa Yechave Da'at, Volume 3, Section 60, as plastic utensils are exempt from immersion. However, one who is stringent to immerse them without a blessing will be blessed).
