Is it Permissible for an Unmarried Woman to Associate with a Married Man?
Question
Greetings! I am a 27-year-old unmarried woman and have not had a steady partner for two years. Over the past seven years, many married men have approached me. At first, I rejected them, but eventually I felt too weak to resist, and only married men, not unmarried ones, began approaching me. I pray every morning and throughout the day for a proper match and for Hashem to show me the correct, good, and straight path to walk. Today, I feel that it is no accident that Hashem has chosen to guide me on the path I am currently on. I am in contact with a married man who greatly helps and supports me in every way, and it does not harm his family; this is certainly not the intention. I feel that it is no coincidence that we met and that we need to go through something beneficial both for him and for me. However, since we also have an intimate relationship, I feel that I am sinning, and every time something bad happens, I think it is because of my connection with him. Should I end the relationship? I must mention that I am thankful to Hashem for every day that passes; I am happy and satisfied with my life, but I would like to start my own family, and I am concerned that this may be the main obstacle. He supports me greatly, and I feel that if he is not in my life, it will be more difficult for me.
Answer
Greetings and blessings.
This is a very severe sin, and it is a prohibition of karet (divine excision), since you are in niddah. Engaging in relations with a married or unmarried man while in niddah is a karet-level prohibition, heaven forbid, and you are obligated to cease this relationship immediately. This is in addition to the prohibition of promiscuity, which would be forbidden in any case, even if you were tahor (ritually pure).
It is clear that this sin greatly hinders your success in life, and you must separate yourself from this sin immediately. By doing so, you will merit to rectify the sin through your separation from this grave transgression, and with Hashem's help, your circumstances will improve, G-d willing.
Strengthen yourself greatly, sever the connection, and with Hashem's help, you will merit a good and sweet year and a proper match soon.
