Birkat HaMazon (Grace After Meals)

AA

Question

Good morning! I ate a medium croissant. Do I need to recite birkat hamazon or 'me'en shalosh' ? What is the minimum amount of food that requires a blessing? If so, which blessing should I say – al hamichya or al hamichita? I heard that most flour is chametz. Thank you very much.

Answer

Greetings and blessings. One recites the blessing al hamichya on a croissant and not al hamichita. For every k'zayit (an olive's bulk), one recites the me'en shalosh blessing. A k'zayit is approximately the size of a small matchbox. With blessing, Binyamin Shmueli.
