Is it Possible That the World Is Flat?

The sages of the Jerusalem Talmud wrote, some 2,000 years ago, that the world is spherical, establishing this as fact (Tractate Avoda Zara, beginning of chapter 3), where it explicitly states: "The world is made like a sphere." Similarly, the Rambam and all the sages of Israel throughout the generations have affirmed this long before the first satellite was sent into space. Nowadays, we have photographs of the earth taken from outer space, and many travelers have circumnavigated the globe. The claim that millions of people from different countries are engaged in a massive lie is baseless. The belief in a flat earth today is a conspiracy theory, and like all conspiracy theories, it involves interpretations constructed to reconcile the theory with plain reality. To claim the world is flat, one must believe that millions of people are lying together, including governments with no relations such as the American government, the Chinese government, the Japanese government, the Indian government, and the Saudi government—in short, the entire world... 

2. There is no financial gain or justifiable purpose in such a deception. 

3. The telephone was invented long ago, and people speak with others around the world—people in China can speak with people in Israel, and people in Africa can speak with people in Australia. Everyone sees that when it is day in one country, it is night on the other side of the world. If the world were a flat disk and the sun shone from the center of the sky, all countries would have to be illuminated simultaneously. Take a flat sheet and place it before a lamp; you will see the lamp lights the entire sheet. 

4. Spacecraft and satellites have already been sent into outer space, through which we receive radio broadcasts and signals from around the world as well as photographs of distant stars. It makes no sense to say that all the countries that have sent satellites and spacecraft have chosen to lie and fake millions of photos and videos of outer space. 

5. There are home telescopes available for purchase, through which one can see other planets in our solar system, such as Jupiter and Mars, clearly spherical like our earth. If you look closely at the moon, you will see craters; it is undoubtedly a sphere. 

6. It is enough to search "flat earth disproved" on YouTube to find countless videos refuting the claims of flat earth adherents, one by one. However, it is truly better not to engage in such fantasies nor argue about them excessively, as this adds no truth or fear of Heaven. And if your father wants to believe in them, let him; probably his desire stems from another source, not from a place seeking truth.
