Is It Permissible to Bury a Person with a Tattoo?

AA

Question

Is there a source that prohibits burying a person with a tattoo, and for this reason one must remove the tattoo from the body before burial? Thank you.

Answer

Greetings,

There is no obligation to remove a tattoo before burial. However, it is commendable for a person, while alive, to remove any tattoo from their body, although this is not a requirement.

Wishing you good news,

Hillel Meirs
