Saying Tachanun After Yom Kippur

AA

Question

Hello esteemed Rabbi,

I would like to ask if from Yom Kippur until the end of the month of Tishrei, Tachanun is not said?

Thank you.

Answer

Greetings,

The custom in the Land of Israel is that Viddui (confession) and the Nefillat Apayim (a form of Tachanun) are not recited from after Yom Kippur throughout the entire month of Tishrei until the second day of Cheshvan, and one should not alter this practice. Sources: See Chazon Ovadia, Sukkot (page 859).

Blessings, Hillel Meirs
