Is a concluding blessing recited on wafers?

AA

Question

Dear Rabbi, I would like to know: Is a concluding blessing recited on wafers? Thank you.

Answer

Greetings, In order to recite a concluding blessing on wafers, one must eat the halachic measure of a kezayit from the flour while eating a meal (thus ideally within 4 minutes, and retroactively allowed within 7.5 minutes; see Igrot Moshe Yoreh Deah I:17). Therefore, if one eats four wafers measuring 7.5 cm by 2.5 cm and 1 cm thick within the stated time frame, one recites the blessing of mezonot followed by the concluding blessing (see Satzot Habracha, p. 47, section 3).

Blessings, Hillel Meirss
