Parshat HaMan at Night

AA

Question

Is it permitted to read Parshat HaMan in the evening or at night initially, and not only during the day? Thank you.

Answer

Greetings,

A. In principle, it is permitted to read Parshat HaMan at night; however, according to Kabbalah, it is preferable to refrain from reading verses at night. Yet on the eve of Shabbat and Yom Tov, it is permitted even according to Kabbalah (see in length in She'elot U'Teshuvot Yabia Omer, Part 6, Orach Chaim Section 30).

B. The caution according to Kabbalah to avoid reading verses at night applies only after nightfall; however, during bein ha'shemashot (twilight), there is no concern (She'elot U'Teshuvot Mei Yehuda, Part Orach Chaim Section 22, cited in Yabia Omer, ibid., note 6). Blessings, Hillel Meirs
