Regarding My Name Sahar

Sahar is a modern name, given both to boys and girls.

According to the opinion of Maran Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, it is preferable not to give this name initially; however, if someone is already called Sahar, there is no need to change it. One can find virtues in the name, such as its connection to the Sanhedrin, who would sit in a crescent ("sahar") formation, similar to the shape of the moon at the beginning of the month, so they could see one another. Additionally, as derived from the verse in Song of Songs 7:3, which it is customary to recite whenever completing the Amidah prayer: "Your neck is like the tower of the moon; the temperate heat is lacking. Your two breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle." It also symbolizes the assembly of Israel likened to the moon. With this name, you can spiritually ascend and perceive all your facets, rising on the ladder toward cleaving with the congregation of Israel and with Hashem, through appropriate deeds.
