Prayer and Blessings

If I took a nap in the afternoon - must I recite the blessings on the Torah again?

AA

Question

Hello honorable Rabbi, If I took an afternoon nap - do I need to recite the blessings on the Torah again? Does the length of the nap or the time of day (daytime or nighttime) make a difference? Also, after sleeping, do I need to say a blessing if I read Shabbat newsletters (for example, the Hidabroot newsletter), or during the week when I want to watch lectures or content on the Hidabroot website? Thank you in advance...

Answer

Greetings,

1. One does not recite the blessings on the Torah after sleeping during the day

2. If you are reading words of Torah silently in thought, without pronouncing them, essentially, you do not need to recite the blessings on the Torah.

Nonetheless, it is proper to be stringent and not to read until you have recited the Torah blessings and read the Priestly Blessing section as customary

3. One does not recite a blessing on recorded Torah lectures

Blessings, Hillel Meirs
