A Book Written by a Non-Jew

It is not advisable to read books by the author mentioned. Neale Donald Walsch is an American non-Jew who has managed to make a lot of money writing books about imaginary conversations with Hashem. The problem is that he decides what Hashem wants and what He does not. For example, he writes that adultery and betrayal of one's wife are not wrong at all, and in fact, everyone may do whatever they please—even with strangers. All in Hashem's name!
He also ignores questions about life and the meaning of suffering in the world (which prove that this world is only a world of testing and that life has meaning). Donald also writes that it is perfectly fine to seek materialism and wealth in life, and that people need not struggle with their urges at all. In fact, throughout his books, Donald denies the idea of overcoming the evil inclination.
The most laughable aspect of his words is the fact that he himself admits he does not actually hear or see Hashem; he only imagines what Hashem answers him. He essentially hears what he wants to hear. Donald is a false prophet, and even if he had no bad intentions, he is effectively selling people a false religion of permissiveness. Anyone who tells you exactly what you want to hear without any practical obligation is undoubtedly someone trying to sell you something.

If you seek genuine answers from Hashem, you should turn to Judaism (for example, by listening to lectures on the Hidabroot website or attending a seminar). Hashem has already given the Jewish people a true guidebook for life, which contains both the meaning of life and the secret of happiness in life.
