Is it permitted, according to halacha, for a husband to touch his wife after she gives birth

AA

Question

According to halacha, after a woman gives birth, is it permitted for her husband to touch her [I mean already in the hospital], or is she immediately forbidden to him after the birth? And what is the process after that, how long does it take, and what exactly is done?

Answer

Hello and blessings,

From the breaking of the waters or from the start of labor {when there are frequent contractions every five minutes}, the woman is a niddah and it is forbidden to touch her, until the bleeding stops and seven clean days are counted and she immerses according to halacha.

The time for purification is usually at least six weeks
