Question

Hello and blessings,

When two spouses marry, and for both of them it is a second marriage, how many days of sheva berachot are observed?

Thank you very much for the opportunity to ask and receive answers

Answer

Hello, They have one day of sheva berachot, meaning only the first meal of the first day. Sources: See Shulchan Aruch, Even HaEzer (siman 62, seif 6), where this is the law regarding a widower who marries a widow, that sheva berachot are recited only on the first day. It is obvious that the same applies to a divorced man who marries a divorced woman. This is also cited in Otzar HaPoskim there בשם the books Pri HaAdamah, China VeChasda, and Penei Yitzchak. It is likewise ruled in Responsa Shevet HaLevi, part 8 (siman 279). And see Chelkat Mechokek (there, small seif katan 6) and Beit Shmuel (seif katan 5), that when a widower marries a widow, the first day means only the first meal. See there. If so, the same applies to a divorced man who marries a divorced woman, as stated above.

With blessings, Hillel Meirs
