Kiddush by Someone Who Does Not Keep Shabbat

AA

Question

Hello, respected rabbi,
Is it true that someone who desecrates Shabbat cannot make Kiddush over non-pasteurized wine?
Does plain grape Tirush wine for children work in such a case? (It does not say pasteurized on the back of the bottle.)
My husband makes Kiddush for me and the children, but he does not keep Shabbat (he drives and everything). I am in the process of returning to observance, alone for now.
I would appreciate your help on this matter

Answer

Hello and blessings

You are fortunate to have merited keeping Shabbat! How great is your merit that you keep Shabbat alone; your merit is great and immense, far greater than one who keeps Shabbat together with the entire family. The greater the difficulty, the greater and more tremendous the reward..

A person who desecrates Shabbat can make Kiddush over wine even when the wine is not pasteurized. The other people at the table may not drink from his wine. A person who desecrates Shabbat may do so only on condition that he believes in Shabbat and in the Giver of the Torah, and that he desecrates Shabbat because of his evil inclination.

Tirush wine is usually pasteurized; Carmel Tirush is certainly pasteurized. With the other companies, it should be verified whether it is pasteurized or not.

With blessings,

Binyamin Shmueli
