Is it permitted to recite Shirah?
Question
Hello, Rabbi,
I saw a video of the rabbi regarding the merit of reciting 40 days of passages of Shirah.
Can this also be said in the evening, meaning after sunset?
Thank you in advance

Answer
Hello,
It is permitted to recite Shirah also at night.
Sources: Even according to the kabbalistic view that one should refrain from studying Written Torah at night, Shirah is nonetheless considered part of Oral Torah. This is also written in Shu"t Mekor Neeman, part 1 (siman 347), and in Shu"t Olat Yitzchak, part 3 (siman 88). See also in the book Gam Ani Odecha (Teshuvot HaGra"ch Kanievsky shlita, part 3, page 15), where it is stated that it would seem to be permitted. See further in Shu"t Divrei Binyahu, part 13 (siman 1), and in Shu"t UDrashtah VeChakartah, part 5 (part Orach Chaim, siman 57, letter 2).
With blessing,
Hillel Meirs
