The Meaning of the Name Maayan

AA

Question

With Hashem's help, hello.

My name is Mai and I am 16 years old. I received my name as a gift from my parents, and it means a gift from the God of Israel - an acronym. When I was a little girl, I was often sick and quite difficult. My parents were told that my name should be changed, but they refused to hear of it. Now that I have grown up and understood that my name is not Hebrew, I would like to add another Hebrew name (I was thinking of the name Mor). I approached my parents and they refused to hear of it. They say that fortune can change for the better and also for the worse. I feel that I am not obligated to change, but at the same time I am also afraid.

Thank you in advance

Answer

Hello and blessings

Why change? Since their intention was good and blessed, the name is good. Especially now, at this age, one should not change without the parents' consent.

With blessings,

Binyamin Shmueli
