Drinking from a Glass in a Non-Kosher Place
Question
Shalom, is it permitted to drink from a glass when it is known that the place does not separate milk and meat, and that the glass was not immersed in a mikveh, whether in someone’s home or in a restaurant? And what is the difference between drinking something hot and something cold?
Thank you, Sivan.
Answer
Hello and blessings.
Regarding a glass cup, many are lenient, and it is permissible to be lenient when necessary. With cold drinks, there is no problem at all, because a cold item does not draw out the absorbed forbidden substance within the vessel.
With blessings, Benjamin Shmueli
