Seudah on the Night Before a Brit Yitzchak

AA

Question

Hello, honored rabbi, is it an obligation to hold a Brit Yitzchak meal the night before the brit milah? And what is the halacha - should the table be meat or dairy?
Thank you in advance

Answer

Shalom,

There is no obligation to hold a meal on the night before the brit with washing hands and bread; it is sufficient to bring mezonot and sweets and the like (see Kitzur Shulchan Aruch Yalkut Yosef, part Yoreh Deah, siman רס, section 2). Certainly, there is no need to make a meat meal. It should be noted that among Ashkenazim, the custom was not to make any meal on the night before the brit.

With blessings,

Hillel Meirs
