Shemini Atzeret: Starting the year with great momentum - Maran HaRishon LeTzion Rabbi David Yosef

Rabbi David Yosef

Shemini Atzeret is about starting the year with powerful spiritual momentum. Chazal teach that Hashem says to Am Yisrael, “Kashah alai preidatchem” — “Your departure is difficult for Me.” Hashem gave us seven days to celebrate Sukkot — seven beautiful days of joy and closeness. But when the holiday comes to an end, Hashem says, in essence: I love you. I want you to stay with Me a little longer. And so He gives us one more day: Shemini Atzeret.

But what happens after that final day? How do we carry that closeness with Hashem into the rest of the year? Watch to discover the powerful message Shemini Atzeret gives us — and how to take the inspiration of the holidays with us long after they end.
