Just days before October 7, Itai built his first sukkah so his children could experience more Jewish tradition. During the attack on Kibbutz Be’eri, his family survived hours of terror, hiding beneath the same palm tree whose branches he had used for the sukkah. When they later returned home, they found the house destroyed by fire, while the sukkah remained standing untouched.
