Discover the Art of Quilling: A Colorful Craft to Try at Home
Looking for artistic ways to fill your free time at home? Try the art of quilling. What can you create with 711 strips?

You can buy quilling strips ready-made at craft stores for a very low price. You can also shred colored papers or cardstock, ideally with a thick shredder, or cut them using a "guillotine" tool.
There is a quilling tool used to curl the strips of cardstock. We had one tool, and all the other kids managed just fine by rolling with their hands...
It's really not difficult to do it by hand. Perhaps young children might need the tool, but you can also make one at home as follows: carve a slit at the end of a simple pencil with a utility knife. Insert the end of the quilling strip into it and roll it around the pencil. Once removed, the strip will hold a curled shape.
Copy the letters onto parchment paper. You can trace directly from the computer screen, or print them out and trace them on a window or light table.
The template for the letters is made from 3 quilling strips to make it thick.
Place the parchment paper with the letters on the table and spread white glue on the frame - the outline of the letters - Attach the thick strips according to the letter's shape and wait a bit for it to dry (partial drying is possible).
Before starting, it's a good idea to cut a small piece from each color and prepare a color key, to plan the order of the colors.
And... let's begin.
Apply glue around each letter on the parchment paper and paste the quilling curls according to the color key.
It is also advisable to keep one glued to the other during bonding.
Then apply glue over the entire creation (so the pieces stick well to each other) and wait overnight for it to dry completely.
In the morning, carefully peel off the parchment paper from the back.
And----
Hang it up. And don't forget to take pictures. It's also a good idea to photograph the various stages during the work
Good luck!!!
At the end of the work, you can count how many quilling curls you used. In this creation, we used 711.
