The Moment That Changed My Life
The Voice That Called Me Home: A Journey Back to Hashem
A voice from deep within broke through the noise and called her back. What followed was a journey of faith, strength, and return to Hashem.

(Photo: Shutterstock)There was a moment in my secular years that I will never forget. One of many, perhaps, but this one I can still see clearly, as if it is happening right now.
I was standing in the middle of deafening music, surrounded by thousands of teenagers just like me, all chasing excitement, distraction, and the pleasures of this world.
And suddenly, I could not move.
My legs would not dance. My body refused to respond. I stood there, frozen, my eyes lifted into the air, disconnected from everything around me.
And then I heard it.
A Voice Unlike Any Other
A voice spoke to me, clear and unmistakable.
“Shir, Shir, what are you doing, little girl? Go home. Go back to Abba. What are you doing in places like this? Go home.”
I tried to ignore it. I tried to continue, to blend back into the noise and movement. But the voice would not leave me. It entered my thoughts, my heart, my entire being.
It was unlike anything I had ever experienced.
The Night That Changed My Life
I returned home at six in the morning. The sun was already rising, but I could not sleep.
Something inside me had shifted.
I kept asking myself, what just happened? What changed?
And then it hit me.
My eyes filled with tears. I felt something awaken inside me.
“Abba, are You here?” I whispered. “Are You calling me back?”
A New Beginning
That night, I could not rest.
I searched through my closet and found a book I had kept for months without knowing why: Meshivat Nefesh.
I took it out, dusted it off, and began to read.
And just like that, I stepped into a world I had never known. A world of meaning, of purity, of closeness to Hashem.
Ten Years Later
Today, nearly ten years later, my life looks completely different.
I am married, with four children. My children learn in Talmudei Torah. My husband is an avrech. Our home is built on the foundations of Torah.
And I say this with complete clarity:
Hashem saved me.
He drew me close. He took me from a life that felt empty and brought me into a life filled with purpose, peace, and truth.
Listening to the Voice
I am deeply grateful to the Creator of the world for giving me the merit to hear that voice, and the strength to follow it.
It was not easy. It meant going against everything I knew. But the strength was there, placed within me by Hashem Himself.
And that voice is not unique to me.
A Call for All of Us
Every one of us can hear it.
At any moment, in any place, the voice of our Father in Heaven calls out to us.
Return, My children. Come back. Do not push Me away. I am waiting for you. I am preparing goodness for you, a life of Torah, of purity, and of true joy.
All we need to do is listen.
Return, and Hashem will reach out and draw you close.
