“The wise person has eyes in their head.” They are able to see beyond the dirt that has accumulated on the window of your life and understand that the dirt is not you. You remain pure. Dirt may cling, but it does not penetrate. As it is written in the Song of Songs, “Do not look at me because I am darkened, because the sun has tanned me.”

Within the deep darkness of the matchmaking journey, there are moments when a single ray of light suddenly illuminates your reality. It does not happen often, and not with everyone, but when it does, you recognize that it is not an accident. There is a lesson hidden within it, something small yet powerful that you are meant to take with you and hold on to as you continue forward.

The Journey Through Setbacks

Not every person who crosses your path is destined to remain in your life. Sometimes, perhaps more often than we would like, you must let go of someone you believed could have been part of your future and continue searching. It is like traveling with a flat tire, replacing it with a spare, only for the spare to fall into a puddle of mud. By the time you retrieve it, you are covered in dirt and stains. But despite everything, you have arrived.

And yes, I have arrived. I am here, ready to keep walking with God, to continue discovering my true inner self, the layer beneath what has been darkened by the sun, the essence that remains untouched. The sun is a reality, and the darkening is a natural result, but the true color lies deeper within. That is what we are meant to uncover.

The Question of Surrender

At times, it is tempting to surrender to the darkness within, to the parts of ourselves that have grown accustomed to remaining hidden. It is easier not to struggle, not to peel back the layers that have built up over the years. It is easier to accept what is and stop trying to change it.

But is that surrender truly what is expected of us? Or are we expected to continue refining the diamond within us, polishing faith and joy until their true brilliance is revealed? We may wish to arrive at life’s defining moments pure and untouched, like a pristine garment, but the reality is that no one passes through this world without making mistakes. Even when impurity clings, it does not define who we are. It can be removed, refined, and transformed.

Waiting and Growth

There are times when the waiting itself feels endless. What was once counted in days becomes years. The longing deepens, and with it, the struggle. We may find ourselves caught in cycles of desire, questioning why we are drawn to what is not meant for us, why we revisit connections that cannot lead to a future.

The counting process, as described in the Torah, reflects persistence. It is about continuing forward, step by step, even when the outcome is not yet visible. It begins “the day after Shabbat,” symbolizing a new beginning. Do you believe in the power of that first day, in the possibility that everything can be renewed, that a completely new reality can emerge?

Believing in Renewal

There is a stage when nothing is clear. You are still within the waiting, within the uncertainty, within the long process of becoming. But beyond this stage lies a different time, a moment of transformation.

If you seek a true and lasting change, that will echo far beyond the present, you must believe in the existence of that new beginning. A moment that follows the waiting, a moment that brings an entirely different reality into your life.

The Strength Within the Process

Even now, as you count what feels like lost time, as you see the years adding up, it is difficult to imagine that something entirely different awaits you. But within this very place, within the struggle itself, lies the potential for strength, courage, and transformation.

If you truly believe, then the process is already leading you somewhere meaningful. Each challenge, each test, is part of something larger, something guided by wisdom beyond what you can currently see.

A Test That Reveals Greatness

I once heard words that stayed with me. You have a great and elevated soul, and therefore your test is more difficult. It is like giving a young student an advanced examination. It may feel overwhelming, even unfair, but it is given because of the belief that she is capable.

At the end of the test, there is joy. There is relief, achievement, and reward. But in the moment, it is hard to see beyond the questions in front of you. You may feel exhausted, uncertain, unsure whether you can continue. Yet even now, you are answering correctly, moving forward, and progressing step by step.

Continuing Forward With Faith

The happiness you are waiting for may be closer than you think, just beyond the next step. But to reach it, you must keep going. You must not stop. You must trust that there is deep wisdom behind everything you are experiencing.

Most importantly, you must believe that your story is still unfolding, that what lies ahead will justify every step of the journey.
