Israel Shuts Gaza Crossings, Halts Humanitarian Aid Until Further Notice

Following the Iranian missile attack, Israel has decided to close all crossings into the Gaza Strip. COGAT says that despite the suspension of aid, food supplies in Gaza remain above the population’s nutritional needs.

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) announced this morning (Monday) that Israel is closing all crossings into the Gaza Strip until further notice. As part of the decision, the Kerem Shalom Crossing and the Rafah Crossing were closed, and as a result, the flow of humanitarian aid into the Strip will be halted for now. COGAT said the decision was made in light of the latest security developments and in accordance with a situational assessment conducted following the attack on Iran.

Despite the suspension of aid deliveries, the defense establishment believes there is not expected to be an immediate impact on the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. COGAT emphasized that during the period since the start of the ceasefire, significant quantities of food and aid were transferred into the Strip, which, according to its assessments, provide a broad response to the needs of the population.

It was also reported that the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories remains in continuous contact with international actors and with all relevant bodies involved in the issue. According to COGAT, monitoring of developments on the ground is continuing on an ongoing basis, alongside a constant review of both the security and humanitarian situation.

The defense establishment clarified that the decision to close the crossings and stop the transfer of aid will remain in effect until further notice, and that future policy will be determined in accordance with developments and further situational assessments. COGAT added that updates on the matter will be provided in line with developments and security assessments.
