IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir held a situational assessment today (Sunday) in southern Lebanon with division and brigade commanders. The meeting came against the backdrop of the ceasefire declared yesterday and the instruction from the political leadership to continue operations to destroy terror infrastructure in the area of the Yellow Line in southern Lebanon.

During the discussion, Zamir stressed: "Our objective is clear and remains unchanged: protecting the northern communities and the citizens of Israel. That is what we are acting for, and that is where we are directing all of our efforts. The operations in the Ali Taher and Beaufort areas are also meant to serve that purpose."

"Hezbollah is in very serious distress. In just the past two days, we have neutralized a significant command structure at the mid-level ranks of the Badr units and other units. One of Northern Command's main focal points right now is in the Ali Taher and Beaufort areas. This is an underground fortress that Hezbollah built over twenty years."

According to Zamir, "The declared ceasefire is fragile, and we need to remain at a high level of readiness for a renewal of combat operations, for thwarting threats, and for a rapid shift to the offensive if required. All IDF resources are allocated for this."
