Netanyahu and Vance (archive photo: Mark Salem, Paul)Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave an interview yesterday evening (Sunday) to Fox News, where he addressed comments made about two weeks ago by Vice President J.D. Vance, who warned of declining global support for Israel.
As a reminder, after several members of Israel's government criticized U.S. President Donald Trump, Vance responded: "Don't attack the only strong ally you have left in the world. Israel's problem is not Trump."
In Sunday's interview, Netanyahu said, "I respect him (Vance), and we have a very good relationship, but that doesn't mean I agree with everything he says. Donald Trump is the greatest friend we have ever had in the White House, and I stand behind that completely."
Netanyahu also pointed to Israel's growing ties with India, highlighting what he described as strong public support. "We have a few other friends too, like a small country called India. It has 1.4 billion people. We have tremendous support there. I have this thing on Facebook, and it's just flooded with overwhelming support there, and we have many others as well."
The prime minister argued that Israel enjoys broad international support despite public criticism in some countries.
"Israel has a great many friends around the world. Many leaders call me and say, 'Hey, look, I have this problem with public opinion, but I want you to know that we respect you.' They want to make deals, learn from the IDF, and benefit from our artificial intelligence and cyber expertise. So the relationships are not exactly as they appear."
Netanyahu also claimed there is "a wave of hatred toward Israel and the U.S."
"This toxic ideology has failed, just like socialism. It is a product of social media, with bot farms designed to influence young public opinion," he said.
Amid reports of tensions between Israel and the United States, Netanyahu emphasized the close relationship between himself and President Trump.
"President Trump and I see eye to eye 99% of the time. In every friendship, there are sometimes disagreements. We discussed them openly, and we resolved them. America calls us a 'model ally,' because unlike other allies, we fight alongside it. Our soldiers have fought shoulder to shoulder. Israel has no better ally than America, and America has no better ally than Israel."
"Trump and I brought four historic peace agreements," Netanyahu continued. "I'm sure we will bring more, because there are countries that will be interested in that in order to protect themselves. The agreement with Lebanon shows that it wants to free itself from Iran. To bring peace, we will have to show strength against those who seek to destroy you. At Khamenei's funeral, the Iranians shouted not only 'Death to America,' they shouted 'Death to Trump'—you will not hear that in Israel."
