Security officials reported on Tuesday afternoon that an 18-year-old resident of Umm al-Fahm was arrested on suspicion of pledging allegiance to the ISIS terrorist organization and spending the past year planning the attack.
The suspect was arrested within the past month and is accused of offenses against state security, membership in a terrorist organization, and preparing to carry out a terrorist attack.
As part of the investigation, detectives from the Coastal District's Central Unit searched his home and seized evidence and digital materials that, according to the police and Shin Bet, strengthen suspicions of his support for ISIS and involvement in planning the attack.
Today, following the completion of investigative procedures and the gathering of evidence against the suspect, prosecutors filed a declaration of intent to indict him.
Earlier today, the IDF also reported the arrest of four Islamic Jihad terrorists this week who were allegedly planning an attack in northern Samaria. The arrests took place during two separate operations in the villages of Qabatiya and Arraba, within the Menashe Brigade's area of responsibility, based on intelligence provided by the Shin Bet.
