In Parashat Chayei Sarah, Avraham Avinu sends Eliezer to find a wife for his son Yitzchak. What makes Eliezer's mission so remarkable is his incredible character. Our Sages tell us that Eliezer had a daughter of his own of marriageable age whom he hoped would marry Yitzchak. Yet, when Avraham asked him to go search for a wife for Yitzchak with specific instructions, Eliezer put aside his personal wishes and devoted himself wholeheartedly to finding the best wife for Yitzchak.
When he arrived at the well, Eliezer turned to Hashem in heartfelt prayer, asking for success. He asked Hashem for a sign: The young woman who would water his camels would be the one destined for Yitzchak. This would reveal her kindness and generosity, the very qualities he was searching for. Remarkably, before he even finishes praying, Rivkah appears and fulfills his request!
A Segulah for Shabbat
A special segulah associated with finding one's zivug is to read Chapter 24(Perek כד) of Sefer Bereishit, verses 1–67 (א׳–ס״ז), which tells the story of Yitzchak and Rivkah's shidduch.
Shabbat Chayei Sarah is a meaningful opportunity to read this chapter and pray for a suitable zivug.
Praying Minchah is also associated with finding one's zivug, so it's a good idea to pray Minchah as well!
May everyone searching for their zivug merit to find their bashert and build a beautiful Jewish home filled with Torah, simcha, and blessings very soon, Amen!
