Can I Know Which Tribe I Am From?

AA

Question

Are we all from the tribe of Judah, or is it impossible to know?

Answer

Hello

The genius Rabbi Chida brings in his writings that it is accepted that the members of Ashkenazi communities are from the tribe of Benjamin, while the members of Sephardi communities are from the tribe of Judah.

There is some support for this from the verse at the end of the Book of Obadiah: "And the exiles of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad...". Of course, between the two tribes, there are Kohanim and Leviim who are from the tribe of Levi.

The rest of the tribes are still scattered at the corners of the earth and are expected to return in the Messianic era, aside from a few groups that have already returned to the land, and according to their words, they relate to the descendants of Manasseh, among others.

Best regards - Menashe Israel
