Until When Is It Permissible to Recite the Morning Blessings?
Question
Hello esteemed Rabbi, I would like to know if there is a time limit for reciting the "morning blessings," and if not, until what hour of the day is it permitted to recite them? Thank you very much.
Answer
Hello,
One may recite the morning blessings until sunset (see Responsa Yechaveh Da’at, part 4, section 4, and the book Halacha Brura, section 46, paragraph 19).
However, if one has already prayed the Shacharit service and skipped the morning blessings, they should not recite the blessing of Elokai Neshama, as its conclusion "Who restores souls to the dead" is already fulfilled by the blessing of Mechaye Meitim in the Amidah prayer (the same applies if one has already prayed Mincha). A person should also not recite the blessings of Torah as they have fulfilled their obligation with the blessing of Ahavat Olam (Responsa Yechaveh Da’at, part 4, section 5. A Sephardic woman may recite the blessings of Torah if she typically recites the blessing of Ahavat Olam without the name and sovereignty, in accordance with the opinion of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef of blessed memory in Responsa Yabia Omer, part 8, section 8).
Blessings,
Hillel Meirs
