How Many Candles Should be Lit on the Eve of Yom Kippur?

According to the letter of the law, it is sufficient to light one candle; however, it is customary to light two candles.

Sources: The writings of the Rokeach (Laws of Yom Kippur, Section 285) state that two candles should be lit in the home, just as on other Shabbatot, for the sake of peace in the home. See also Shabbat KeHilchatah, Part 2, Chapter 44, Section 13.
