What is the law regarding challah baked after meat or dairy dishes have been cooked in the oven?

AA

Question

Hello, esteemed Rabbi. I regularly bake challahs, thank God, and wanted to know what the law is regarding a challah that was baked after meat or dairy dishes were cooked in the oven, either immediately after the baking was finished or after a week (meaning the challah is baked a week after the cooking of a dish in the oven). How does one kosher an oven from meat to neutral or from dairy to neutral? And what is the law regarding cooking neutral food, such as pasta, in a meat pot? Is it permissible to eat dairy with the pasta? Thank you very much for your availability and attention. This is very important to me. Best regards, Mazal.

Answer

Hello and blessings,

For Sephardim, the law is that all things remain neutral in all respects.

For Ashkenazim, the law is that it is forbidden to eat food that was baked or cooked in a dairy pot or oven together with meat, but it is permissible to eat meat immediately afterward.

After 24 hours, Ashkenazim are also permitted to eat the meat dish.

Best regards - Binyamin Shmueli
