How Often Should Mezuzot Be Checked?

I would like to know, please, regarding the mezuzot in my home that I checked three years ago: how often should they be checked?

Hello and greetings,
It is stated in the responsa of Yechaveh Da'at, Part 1, Siman 49 regarding mezuzot, that according to the main halacha, they should be checked once every three and a half years. However, the custom of piety is to be stringent and check them every year during Elul.
