Is it permitted to organize a clothing closet on Shabbat?
Question
Hello and blessings.. I wanted to ask if it is permitted to organize a closet on Shabbat.. to take out the clothes inside and fold them neatly to return to the closet..
And is it allowed to try on the clothes for the purpose of checking in order to filter out clothes that need to be thrown away or given away..
This is regarding a closet that contains no items that are "muktzah" but only clothing.. Thank you

To the questioner,
Apologies for the delay in responding.
1. One may not organize the closet due to "selecting clothes without immediate use."
Also, if it involves effort, it constitutes preparation for the weekday.
Furthermore, it is forbidden to fold a used white garment, as it resembles repairing an item (Shabbat 116).
2. Similarly, measuring to filter clothes is prohibited for the reasons mentioned above.
