Hashem Granted a Son
Question
Hello esteemed Rabbi, my wife and I welcomed a baby boy a few days ago. Blessed be Hashem. The birth was earlier than expected and quite challenging. He is still hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit, and while there may still be time until the *brit* (circumcision), we are somewhat hesitant about naming our child. We would like to ask the esteemed Rabbi about the name Netai (or Nittai), whether it is a recommended name and how it should be spelled exactly. The child was born just a few days ago on the 23rd of Tishrei, right after the conclusion of Simchat Torah, via a C-section, one could say through a great miracle, blessed be Hashem. I would appreciate your response.
Answer
Hello Rabbi,
Netai is the name of a tana (rabbinic sage) mentioned in Pirkei Avot (Chapter 1, Mishnah 7), thus it is certainly good and recommended.
The spelling is: Netai. נתאי
With blessings for Mazal Tov,
