Is One in Mourning During Chol Hamoed Pesach?

AA

Question

Is one in mourning during Chol Hamoed Pesach? If not, when does one sit shiva?

Answer

Greetings,

During Chol Hamoed Pesach, one does not sit shiva.

If someone lost a relative shortly before Pesach and has already begun the shiva, even for a few minutes before the holiday begins, they should cease the shiva before the holiday starts and do not need to sit shiva again.

If one passed away during the days of Pesach, the mourner does not sit shiva at all until after Pesach, and then will sit shiva as usual.

Best regards,

Benjamin Shmuli
