Is Kosher Certification Required for Coffee Abroad?

AA

Question

In the name of Hashem, hello honorable Rabbi. I would like to know if it is permitted for me to buy coffee with milk at coffee shops abroad? And what types of food am I allowed to eat even without special kosher certification? Thank you.

Answer

Greetings and blessings. Coffee without milk is permitted without concern. Coffee with milk should only be allowed for those who consume non-chalav israel milk, and exclusively in places where there is government supervision preventing the mixing of other milk, and only provided you can verify that the milk packet or carton is indeed cow's milk.

With blessings, Binyamin Shmueli.
