Is It Permissible to Buy Shoes for One's Spouse?

Hello respected Rabbi, I have a question please: Is it permissible to buy a watch for one’s husband, or can the husband buy shoes for me? It is said that this could, heaven forbid, lead to separation. Is there any halachic concern here? Thank you very much.
