Is It Permissible to Say the Entire Tachanun in Private?

AA

Question

Shalom,

I would like to know if when I pray alone, can I say the entire sequence of Tachanun during Shacharit and Mincha? Also, can I add what is written for Monday and Thursday during Shacharit, or is a minyan required for this?

Thank you.

Answer

Greetings,

You say the whole sequence as usual, including the additions for Monday and Thursday.

There are those who wrote that one should not perform Nefillat Apayim in a place where there is no Torah scroll. However, according to the mystical teachings, wherever there is a sacred book of any sort, even one prayer book, it is permissible to do Nefillat Apayim, and this is the common practice.

In private prayer, you say the 'Hashem, Hashem' with the cantillation marks, not the tune of the prayer.

With blessings,

Benjamin Shmueli
