Is it Permissible to Consult a Medium for Guidance?

AA

Question

Hello, esteemed Rabbi,

I would like to know your position regarding the phenomenon of mediums that has been gaining popularity recently. Is it permissible to visit a medium? There are those who genuinely know things and present it as help for a person who stands at a crossroads or is confused. By the way, I asked how she communicates, and she claims that she receives guidance and answers from Heaven, with the help of a numerology chart. I should mention that the medium is a religious woman, and her intention is solely to help and guide. I am in a dilemma because I believe there is a Creator of the world who directs and guides everything, yet on the other hand, there are people whose mission is to help, guide, or illuminate the way for others. In any case, I would appreciate if you could clarify this for me.

Thank you very much.

Answer

Greetings,

One should not go to them nor believe them, even if at times they have some words of truth. Indeed, there are people whose role is to help others, but not through mystical stories. Rather, their help and guidance is intellectual and emotional, not through fabricated communications at best.

Regards, Binyamin Sham'uli
