Is it possible to determine the gender of the next child based on the position of the crown on the sibling's head?
Question
Greetings,
There is a common belief that one can know the gender of the next child based on the position of the crown (קודקוד) on the head of the preceding sibling. If the crown is in the middle, it indicates a girl; if on the side, a boy. Is there any basis for this?
Another question, I am considering future names should Hashem bless us with a daughter, and I have thought of the following names: Daria, Hodaya, Avishag, Sivan, Inbal, & Inbar. Are these good names that will bring blessing? Besides these names, I do not find any others I feel connected to.
Answer
Greetings,
1. It seems that it is said the opposite: if the crown is in the middle, it indicates a boy, and if it is on the side, a girl. However, in any case, there is no known source in our traditional texts to support this.
2. Hodaya and Avishag are the most recommended names.
With blessings, Hillel Meirs
