Sitting on the Ground During the Recitation of Tikkun Chatzot

AA

Question

When reciting only Tikkun Leah, there is no requirement to sit on the ground. My question is: when reciting the full Tikkun Chatzot, do we sit on the ground until the end of Tikkun Leah, or throughout the entire Tikkun, or until a certain section of the Tikkun? If possible, please include the sources in your answer. Thank you in advance and have a good and blessed week, Mordechai Arviv.

Answer

Greetings, In the days when both Tikkun Rachel and Tikkun Leah are recited, one sits on the ground on a cloth or similar item until the end of Tikkun Leah. However, on days when only Tikkun Leah is recited, there is no need to sit on the ground at all (see Ben Ish Chai, Year 1, Parashat Vayishlach, paragraphs 10-11; Kaf HaChayim, Siman 1, paragraphs 18-19). Blessings, Hillel Meirs
