What should one do if they forgot to recite Birkat Hamazon where they ate?
Question
Hello and blessings, I was at a brit milah, I recited the blessing over the wine but forgot to say Birkat Hamazon. I did not recite it at home either as I was unsure if it was a blessing that could be in vain or not, and it certainly was not in the same place... What should I have done in such a situation when I remembered after leaving the place where I ate? Thank you very much.
Answer
Greetings,
If you had the option to eat some more bread at home, it would have been proper to do so and then recite Birkat Hamazon afterward (and if your attention was diverted from the first eating at the brit milah, you would have needed to wash your hands again and recite the blessing HaMotzi).
If you did not have such an option, it was permitted to recite the blessing at home; however, it would have been preferable to return to the place where you ate to recite it there (especially if you were not full anymore from that eating, because if you had become hungry again, the time allotted for the blessing had passed).
